SAP to Intensify Commitment through Providing Sponsorship & Novel Cloud-Based Developer Tools

Bangalore: The leading vendor of enterprise software and software related services, SAP recently announced that it has become the sponsor for two open source communities, Cloud Foundry and OpenStack foundation at O’Reilly OSCON Open Source Convention in Oregon. Cloud Foundry is an open PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) fostering innovation in the industry while OpenStack foundation is a provider of IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) through its Open Source Cloud Computing platform. In addition, SAP also introduced new cloud-based developer tools SAP HANA Answers and SAP River Rapid Development Environment.

The 1972 born SAP is a Germany based multinational software corporation which has been helping the businesses to run better by leveraging its enterprise applications in terms of software and software-related service revenue. The $98.31 billion company is the third largest independent software manufacturer with offices across 130 countries and catered to 188 countries. In this context, the new advancement is claimed to be the significant step in SAP’s strategy to provide an open technology platform and enhance its commitment.

As a Platinum Member of Cloud Foundry, SAP has been enabling the development of next-generation cloud applications. It has also taken its first step through the code contribution and making Cloud Foundry service broker available for SAP HANA which allows Cloud Foundry application to connect to and leverage the in-memory capabilities of SAP HANA. On the other hand, as an active consumer in the OpenStack community, SAP also geared up to contribute an open source code base. Its experience in managing enterprise clouds help the contribution to focus on enhancing OpenStack.

The launch of new developer tools aiming to enable developers to easily start building applications on SAP HANA Cloud Platform, which is the in-memory PaaS of SAP. To add on this, the company has also announced the beta release of SAP River RDE as part of SAP HANA Cloud Platform. SAP HANA Answers provides a fast access to SAP HANA information and expertise in the cloud and also allow people to search, post and answer SAP HANA related topics. Through SAP HANA Answers plugin, the site is directly accessible from the SAP HANA Studio which is a provider of end-to-end application and content development for SAP HANA.
