Sam Thakorbhai Desai, chief information officer of communications giant Motorola had won the prestigious siliconindia Corporate Leadership Award. The award was presented at a dinner banquet on the 16th of November, 2002.
NEWARK: One of the most dynamic CIOs, Samir Thakorbhai Desai was instrumental in strengthening Motorola’s IT capabilities crucial to the corporation's growth, as well as accelerating e-business strategies and capabilities. As he had steered Motorola’s IT strategy and technology deployment and aligns it with the company’s business strategy, Desai was driving the move to integrate the systems in Motorola.
Sam Desai had also delivered the keynote speech at the Siliconindia annual conference on November 16 in 2002, which held at The Westin Hotel, Santa Clara.
As the CIO of one of the largest manufacturers and retailers of cellular products, Desai had been instrumental in strengthening Motorola’s IT capabilities crucial to the corporation's growth, as well as accelerating e-business strategies and capabilities.
Desai joined Motorola as an engineer in 1973. In his rise through Motorola’s ranks, Desai had driven divisions under his responsibility to gain sizeable profits and achieve strategic business strengths. With three decades of experience at Motorola in business management and strategy, worldwide supply chain, quality, and e-business strategy and implementation, Desai had proved to be an exceptional leader who can deliver business results.
Sam holds a B.S. in physics and electrical engineering from two universities in India, a master of science in electrical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, and a master of business administration from Loyola University in Chicago.
