Amazon, the Next Google

BANGALORE: Amazon, the well-known online store for selling books and gifts, is now turning to be more like Google, reports Business Insider.

In recent months, the changes are speeding up, apart from its e-commerce business. It owns a mobile operating system for tablets and smartphones,  an app store, and creates a way to accept payments with a smartphone. Experimenting with drones, selling digital music, books, movies, and TV shows will soon have an online ad network too.

Amazon has made a purchase of Twitch for $970 million, which is a site to watch people play video games via a live stream.

Google has expanded beyond search into everything by manufacturing cars that can drive themselves and has experimented with same-day delivery, grocery delivery, and point of sale systems for brick-and-mortar retailers.

The only difference is that Google is outrageously money-making, while Amazon continues to post losses each quarter. But it's also a changing company, by trying its hands at almost everything from shopping to playing games, and many more.
