Microsoft Targeting CIOs for Surface Pro
Bangalore: Microsoft seems to be aiming at CIOs for promoting its Surface Windows 8 Pro. This product is ideal for business, and it will soon replace the laptop PCs which are used by most of the IT people. Microsoft Dynamics which is used to manage sales and supply chain, can be interoperated with Surface Windows 8 Pro. By using this product, companies can issue updates, update applications and configure the Surface tablet with the help of MS tools.
Microsoft has been facing decline in the sale of PCs with compared to tablets brought by Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablets and Apple's iPad. Prior to this, Microsoft's Surface tablets which was released in fourth quarter of 2012 had not gained much success. So, depending on that, it's a bit doubtful whether it would be able to take over Apple or Samsung's position.
Clint Boulton wrote an article on wsj.com in which he reported that according to Stella Chernyak, senior director of Windows Enterprise at Microsoft, they took most of the design of Surface Pro by consulting approximately 800 customers, who confirmed their wish for other features like stylus and keyboard. She believes that Pro will be a hit among users as it has a balance of both productivity and portability.
Forrester Research analyst David Johnson states that this product enables IT managers to configure and upgrade Surface tablets with the help of System Center Configuration Manager. Most of the customers have already started using the MS management tools like Group Policy, Active Directory and Microsoft’s InTune, which is a positive sign for Microsoft. It would be a very handy from the corporate perspective.
However, the results are yet to be seen regarding whether this Surface Pro with excellent features and interoperable software will capture the minds of CIOs and help Windows to rise from being declined.
