IT Executives Expect Increase in Budgets in 2012

IT budgets are expected to increase this year. As per a recent survey conducted by TEKsystems, 53% percent of IT leaders expect their budgets to increase in 2012. The CIOs are the ones who are form a big group expecting 66% increase to their budgets.

The report says that expenses on IT infrastructure services and IT applications services are likely to grow by 44% and 40%, respectively. 24% of those who believe IT infrastructure budget to grow, expect expenditures growing by more than 5%.

Year 2011 was the year of remarkable innovations and new trends like mobility, cloud computing and business intelligence created much hypes. But many organizations were not amongst those who adopted and implemented these initiatives. This year organizations will be more prepared to organizations will be more prepared to take action, says TEKsystems director, Rachel Russell. And it will be critical for business to select service providers capable of providing practical insight and in line experiences to help guide and support these initiatives, he added.

This year, 54% of the IT leaders are implementing or planning to implement mobility projects. And more than 75% of healthcare IT leaders reported that mobility projects are either currently being implemented or they are planning to implement it by the end of this year. Other projects that are gaining attention of the IT leaders this year are business intelligence (44%), master data management (MDM) projects (44%).

Cloud computing is playing over the minds of the IT heads year-after -year and this year 43% indicate plans to implement this technology as compared to the last year which was 31%, as more companies become aware of the technology's numerous benefits.
