IBM Launches Applications for Enterprise Mobile and Tablet Users in India

IBM has announced the launch of its seven new social networking mobile applications, targeting the enterprise users for real-time communication, online meetings and instant messaging services. As the enterprises have become BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) friendly, this software comes as a welcoming change for seamless access to business applications through Tablets, iPads, Blackberry and other Smart phones. This allows the workforce to collaboratively share data and images; and other mundane job related tasks, more effectively.

Karthik Padmanabhan, Country Manager, Lotus, IBM Software Group India/ South Asia said "India is, undoubtedly, an emerging market for tablets and smartphones. More of these devices are finding their way into enterprises as employees entering the organization will expect to be allowed to use them. Employees increasingly seek to take full advantage of better browsers and innovative applications from app stores?. He further added that ?The ability to quickly access Angry Birds is fun, but being able to also access business applications and sales leads is beguiling today?s customers."

IBM has launched Social networking application for iPad that can be easily downloaded across Apple app store at free of cost for existing IBM Connections users. The software provides unique document editing capabilities. The "IBM's LotusLive Meeting" allows users to view shared presentations and allow them to chat with participants on mobile devices and Tablets. Also, the "IBM Sametime" software provides a browser-based chat session accessible from iPads and Android tablets. The "IBM Sametime" application also enables the participants to share photos and files from the chat window. The attractive "IBM Lotus Symphony Viewers" let the users to view the business documents that are ODF (Open Document Format) based documents, presentations and spreadsheets from iPads, iPhones and devices with Android.

The "IBM Sametime Unified Telephony" for tablets makes use of VoIP (Voice over internet Protocol), thereby substantially reducing the costs for long distance calls and roaming facilities. It also let the users to select the device to which the call is initiated; and also provides a unified number to appear in the caller ID. Furthermore, the "IBM Lotus Notes Traveler" provides a quick access to calendars; and calls the numbers stored in the calendars. Also, a single click enables to check mails for Android screens.

For software developers, IBM has introduced its "Mobile Technology Preview" on the developerWorks website, which provides a platform for developers, who can now download the tools to build applications for enterprise related software for mobile devices. The "IBM WebSphere Portal Mobile Experience" solutions is a software for controlling the page navigation on Smart phones and Tablets, rendering easy manageability of content in web pages. In addition, IBM recently announced new mobile software solutions for protecting enterprises against Spy wares and other malicious activities such as data loss, device theft, and unauthorized access.

Additionally, the "IBM Cognos Mobile" for iPads provides business analytics that could be carried on the fly, by the enterprise users. It is available for download at free of charge from iTunes store. IBM has also launched a mobile software named "COPLINK Mobile Plus for" law enforcement organizations to provide tactical guide for the authorities; it is being used across various law enforcement agencies in the United States for iPads, Tablets, iPhones and other Android based devices.
