Bangalore: : It has been an enduring as well as a fascinating journey for Google. From being a novice in the online world to becoming the second most valuable company, the surge of Google is truly a tale to embark upon. Moreover, their products - from Gmail to Android – revolve around consumerization. As such, CIOs can dismiss Google at their own peril. Therefore, it becomes prerequisite for CIOs to gain knowledge about various traits that makes Google, well, GOOGLE, reports Don Reisinger of CIOInsight.

Initially, the target customers of Google were mainly restricted to the average consumers. But with its introduction of enterprise-focused applications, like Chrome OS, they have taken the plunge in the corporate customers’ market.

As a result, Google has transformed in to a force for CIOs to reckon with and thereby they should analyze the following 10 characteristics that might be useful to deal with Google in the long run.

1) In the footsteps of Microsoft: Although rivals at heart, Google is becoming more and more like Microsoft – big, brooding and dominating.

2) Advertising is the Weapon: It is an open secret that ads are what drive the success of Google. And when it comes to enterprise, they are more likely to adopt the same technique.

3) Indifferent towards Enterprise Productivity: The Chrome OS of Google is not made to increase the output of employees which should be borne in mind by CIOs.

4) Consumer Focused: For Google, its product strategy primarily revolves around consumers and they are expected to do the same when it comes to enterprise.

5) Patent trouble: Google might find itself in patent trouble as it ventures into new territories with regards to established enterprises.

6) End-to-end satisfaction: Google makes it a point to provide end-to end solutions with satisfactory results. For example, with Nexus 7, it offers consumers both hardware and software.

7) Simplicity is the Key: When it comes to Google’s products, they tend to keep it simple with minimum interaction with its services. This might not work with enterprises that need sophisticated functions.

8) Doesn’t relate to corporate value: Google doesn’t seem to fully comprehend the worth of corporate value which is counterparts vouch for religiously.

9) New Player: Google is a relatively new player in the enterprise arena with inexperience as a major drawback.

10) Employees adore Google: When it comes to the employees of Google, they are very satisfied and therefore consider the firm as their beloved.

These are a few quirks about Google a CIO should contemplate before jumping the gun.
