10 Tips for Promoting the CIO- CMO Equation
·Go Social: The world is progressing to a stage where in order to remain competitive, a CIO must become social. This does not simply involve using social media or technology, but a mindset that is open to collaboration.
·View Marketing as a Process and not a Separate Department: The CIO and his team should not only support the marketing campaigns actively by social media or by word of mouth. It would be extremely beneficial to view marketing not as an isolated function, but a process that involves all in enabling the sales.
·Place More Emphasis on Design: Marketing is not just about technology, it requires a fine balance of creative design. There is not just emphasis on being functional and useful, but in achieving perfection with every pixel. If this appreciation for design is not inherent in the CIO, the chasm between IT and Marketing widens.
·Don’t Stick to Your Desk: CIOs need to sharpen their business acumen and join the CMOs for company conferences and events. This will enable the CIO to understand the challenges faced by the marketing team to create an effective campaign that will result in acquiring more customers.
