Breaking Down the Kinds of CIOs

Bangalore: In addition to the technological priorities, the present - day CIO have an operational as well as strategic priority in order to offer a helping hand to fulfill the business mission as well as to contribute to the generation of revenue. With this changing role of the CIOs, it should not be a surprise to many of us when we see different types of CIOs taking on differing roles in the future. The role of CIOs today is changing from those that manage the technology to those that manage business relationships. This change, according to Gartner is an outcome of the shift in focus from cost to growth, IT to technology and from automation to amplification.  

According to the infographic below, there are five types of CIOs namely The Enforcer, The Mediator, The Evangelist, The Dinosaur and The Strategic Consultant.
