The Neo-Security Model

Major trends in enterprise computing, such as the cloud, social media and "bring your own device" are forcing radical changes in information security infrastructure of enterprises.

The dynamic nature of the threat developed in this landscape coupled with information explosion in the enterprise, are putting enormous pressure on enterprise IT professionals.

CIOs and CISOs are coming to realize that traditional corporate approaches to security will have to change as the existing potpourri of point tools is no match for the sophisticated threat landscape of new IT initiatives like cloud and mobile computing. Security policies are being tied to physical attributes and devices are becoming redundant. Businesses must learn to accommodate these new demands (social, mobile, cloud ) made on IT while also maintaining more traditional security controls.

Several analyst studies indicate that attack volumes will continue to rise targeting all types of organization—government, military and business systems. More proactive protection is needed to address these cyber security time bomb, which is driving the need for better and more proactive security.

We spoke to some of the successful CISOs to gain insights on what they see as a big challenge in technology, what solutions they will look forward to and their expectations from security solution providers for the enterprise. Being a neutral platform, CISOs shared their true insights without any obligations to a particular vendor.

We believe, the roast of insights we present in this Enterprise Security Yearbook 2013 will help CISOs and IT leaders across the board to learn from their peers and will serve as a resource book for decision makers, where they can refer how their contemporaries are thinking about similar problems.
