Kenneth Pinto

Assistant Manager - Strategy and Evolution
Cheers Interactive Pvt. Ltd.
Excellence in Management
I spearhead Strategic Leadership and Tactical Talent Acquisition by building strategic sales and delivery teams across various competencies like Technology Licensing, Market Intelligence and Business Research, Intellectual Property and Technology Research spanning Life Sciences, Chemicals, Manufacturing, Avionics and Aerospace, Energy and Biotechnology domains; as part of the company's ramp up phase... I Aided the set up of the Cheers Sales Academy as well as its Global Marketing and Corporate Communications division, by virtue of talent acquisition at the VP slot... Other than an exotic array of Leadership hires, I also provide the top management with real time industry analysis and competitive intelligence
My advice
Learning from the book is essential but truly feeling the pulse of the environment we work in and dealing with its host of variables is a whole different story... In my opinion, a true leader absorbs a not so delicate situation, delegates effectively and manages his workforce with empathy...
Awards and Recognitions
I was hand picked to tackle the strategic talent acquisition needs of Cheers Interactive... The crowning glory of my engagement with the business is being the first recruiter to be hired to completely negate any external vendor dependency across all levels by 100%, resulting in huge savings in hiring costs... Being responsible for identifying and acquiring Leadership management to various business units across the board is yet another feather in my hat...
Important career decisions
Moving from an Executive Search firm to a corporate business was in a way, a very important career move for me... Helping clients achieve their human capital needs is one thing, but being responsible for a company's global growth paradigm is another thing all together
Current Job description
At Cheers Interactive, I'm part of the Strategy & Evolution team which spearheads strategic leadership and tactical talent acquisition for the global sales & business development, operations and shared services compliments of the business... I work directly with the CxO and various Strategic Business Unit Heads across functions to analyze pain areas and to achieve organizational growth from a human capital perspective... Other than being responsible for managing the entire talent acquisition life - cycle, mostly as an independent contributor, I am also involved in Competitive Intelligence activities, as well as Identifying & creating a ‘future ready’ database of potential candidates across functions from competition and companies of interest...
Handling Grievances
Just like a coin, there are at least 2 sides to every situation... It is imperative to be able to analyze employee grievances fairly... By keeping a finger on the pulse of an employee, a leader should be able to strike a balance between professional and personal issues and devise rational resolutions, ensuring no negative impact on either the employee/ team or the business on a whole... Like it is famously said, "No matter what, the show must go on"...
Influenced by
The diversity of life, allows no one particular influence... However, from a professional stand point, I could certainly narrow it down to my parents... Though my father being a serial entrepreneur and a very successful business honcho, I would still draw my professional strengths and influence from my mother... From Heading Operations and managing clients at my father’s Stock Broking firm to setting up infrastructure for a prestigious list of global MNC's setting up shop or expanding existing presence in India, my mother has 'been there done that'... From a Corporate Leader by profession to a Globe trotter by passion, my mother has positively instigated the growing professional in me...
My views on India Technical development
We certainly do not have a dearth in technical talent in India and our Tech workforce is surely in high demand worldwide... The flaw probably lies in our focus & spending on R&D initiatives... Perhaps government intervention or BIG spending in Technology research & development by BIG Industry needs a face life...
Managing personal and professional life
It is imperative to focus on yesterday's deeds to secure a better today and to ensure a new successful plan of action for tomorrow! Mistakes are important as it redefines a professional... Learning from stated examples is good. However, in my opinion, but real learning comes out of practical experience... Good or bad, it shapes an individuals spirit as well as personality, on both, the personal as well as the professional side... It is also important to self realise and ask questions as to why did x not work for me or why did y work for me and the answers, make up the Bible we should live by...
Leadership qualities
A Leader's focus should circulate around the realm of 'Excellence'... Excellence in personal dealings as well as professional value... One should be tactically and technically proficient with the dynamics of ones business as well as allied domains, industry's and geography's... A strong personality, character and the eagerness to persevere coupled with expertise and experience aids the formation of a true leader... The Hallmark of a Leader is when respect is commanded and not demanded and when followers place unobjectionable faith in the wisdom and word of their Leader...
Ensuring Growth
As mentioned before, it is extremely important to self analyze and look back at past events to help shape the future! A Leader has to be ever watchful for new market trends, innovations and methodologies... It is imperative to be able to welcome and adapt new changes and challenges... One need not reinvent the wheel but it is essential to be able to modify it to fit current day challenges...
Family background
My father is a veteran Stock Broker with memberships to the BSE, NSE and the PSE... Investing and reinvesting is all he breathes! On the flip side, my mother too is a PSE member as well as a former Partner in my father's business... She now treads the corporate world where she aids global MNC's set up shop or ramp up infrastructure across Australasia... My sister is a former Internal Auditor with KPMG who now pursues a career in theater and the media industry...
