Manager IT
Air India Sats Airport Services
Insight of My Company and its IT Strategies
AirIndia Sats Airport Services (AISATS) is a joint venture company between Air India and Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS), which has been formed to provide  International Standard and quality  of Ground and Cargo handling services to the Airlines in Indian Airports, by using the international facilities, infrastructure, experienced and expertized personnel’sof both Air India and SATS.

AISATS has designed and build our own in-house warehouse operational applications which will be used for our day to day operations. And for recruitment, purchase and billing we have our own custom designed web based application which will record all the transactions in a real time environment. All these applications are designed to support all our operations at the different Airports where we are presently operating and will be operating in future.

The complete IT infrastructure has been hosted at the central location with the DR site and all the locations will be connecting to the same through either P2P, IPVPN and MPLS.
Views on Cloud and Virtualization
I believe moving to cloud and virtualization of the infrastructure is good one, where we may need not to invest more on the hardware and paying more and more on the licenses, power, space, maintenance etc., I have recently migrated my mail services to cloud infrastructure which I found is very good and management is simple compare to my earlier infrastructure.
Keeping up with Latest Technology
Will scan through internet, attend seminars, summits, blogs, webinars as often as possible.
Team Size
I have a team of about 13 members looking after various technologies.
Biggest Pain Point
Procuring and retaining the experienced staff in the concerned industry.
Slowdown Impact on IT Innovation

Challenges Faced
Physical access to the hosted location, database security, internet security, network security are the major challenges which will come across and try to tighten the same in order to secure our data.
Adoption of Cloud Policy
Yes we have adopted to the cloud solution which has been hosted by Microsoft.
Cloud as a Tool
All the communications or data sent through the cloud are secured and not accessible.
IT Leader – Manager First or Technologist First
IT leader should have equally technological and managerial skills, which are very important, as he may need to make the decisions on the technological issues and also needs to manage the other operational and official situations in the benefit of the organization or business.
Relationship between CIO and CEO
CIO and CEO should always needs to work together in order to execute the business requirements in a proper technological way, they should need to make the decisions based on their concurrence, without which they may not be in a position to provide the proper solution, which may be operationally poor or technically poor.
Advice/ Suggestion
My suggestion is that they need to update their technical skills to all the innovative contemporary technologies and assist the CEO to make the productive, technical and cost effective decisions in the benefit of the business.
